just when that former guard died recently it made me wonder about him. I would really like to read about what went on and if they ever really found his body etc... I am not a nazi, am appalled by what happened.

For a list of books on Hitler try this link from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Adolf_Hitler_books

I'd recommend the first in the list - A Study in Tyranny by Alan Bullock.

You could start with Hitler's very own book called "Mein Kampf" [My Struggle]. This tells you much about Hitler's state of mind before becoming Chancellor of Germany.

The body of Adolf Hitler was never found. The Russians found part of his scull with an exit bullet hole. This was finally crushed and destroyed by the KGB sometime in the 1970s so as to stop anyone from visiting what might have become a 'shrine' to AHitler. Had Hitler survived and lived, the Russians planned to parade him naked in a cage through the triumphant streets of Moscow. It did not happen. Pity.

The rumour is that Adolf Hitler was treated for a mental disorder by Freud in Vienna shortly after WW-One.

The historian John Toland wrote a massive, but very good, biography, simply titled "Adolf Hitler".

The journalist William Shirer wrote "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", which was earlier, and covers a somewhat broader area.

From the Nazi perspective, you can read Albert Speer's "Inside the Third Reich" Speer was Hitler's personal architect, and also Minister of War Production. He served 20 years in Spandau Prison after the Nuremberg Trials.

--This is a reference from the book "Nasty People" ..by Jay Carter --He refers to Hitler as a Master Invalidator:

(my brief comment)
What Hitler is said to have done was to invalidate all the suffering he caused people by never going to visit the wounded, disabled etc. When he drove through bombed cities he would draw his shades so he would not see what he has caused in immense suffering! -- The millions he had others murder and those he drove insane are also referred to.

In his book he is referencing another author
who described Hitlers INHUMANITY to mankind!

"The Life And Death of Adolf Hitler" by Robert Payne

Try Mein Kampf- The book he wrote in prison outlining his ideas, I.E. Lebensraum, Anschloss etc...

OR

Try a book all about him and his life called "Adolf Hitler: The Definitive Biography" by John Toland.
http://www.amazon.com/Adolf-Hitler-Definitive-John-Toland/dp/0385420536

Alternatively, you could watch the film "Downfall"
It's an amazing and factual film about hitlers life.

P.S. They never found his body and never will- he commited suicide with his wife Eva Brown in his bunker, his body was then burned as he commanded.

Mein Kamph was a book that Hitler wrote, (autobiography)not about him (biography). The facts in it would probably be falsified, so it wouldn't be worth reading.

"Mein Kampf", autobiography written by Adolf Hitler.

It has been translated into many languages. gives you a good insight into the mind of a delusional psychopath.
