I read these stories in an anthology when I was in high school and they stuck with me but I cannot for the life of me remember the titles or the authors. Any help is appreciated.

First, there was a story about a bird collector that wanted to find a phoenix. He finally did, or maybe he died before his estate acquired one. Anyways, they treated the bird poorly so that it would burn and be reborn but when it did the fire was so large it burned all of the people who had come to watch it.

Second, there was a story of a man who took his son and another young boy (a nephew maybe) out fishing but they got stuck on an island and the boat drifted away and the man gave the boys whiskey to try and keep them warm but they eventually all drowned when the tide came in.

Third, there was a story about a man who was in a driving test simulation and killed a young girl in a horrible crash. When he still wanted to get his license, they locked him up because he was obviously not fit to be in society.

Winter
Chilly winter mornings,
Frosty winter nights,
On the news there are warnings,
That the roads are thickly iced.
~*~
Days are shorter, nights are longer,
Everything glistens with ice,
My love for this season gets stronger and stronger
Winter is so very nice.
~*~
I wake up and look out my window,
All I can see is a blanket of white,
Oh how much I love the snow,
It makes everything feel just right.
~*~
Before you know it, winter will go,
So promise me, while it's still here,
Although you may not have any snow,
Enjoy the most wonderful time of the year.

of course most people would understand what you meant if you just said "stone carving", but is there a different name for this type of art?

This comes up in Euthyphro and indirectly in Laws, the question is (basically):
are laws just because they are given by the gods or are they given by the gods because they are just?

this is the old wording of the question --- of course it assumes that the "gods" have given the laws -- the story behind this, in short, is that Hesiod and Homer wrote about Zeus meeting with King Minos once in awhile to tell him how to run his countries and Minos made the laws in accordance with Zeus's commands.

My [modernized] question is:
Is there some source of just laws (some overarching theory of goodness or justice) that we have that make them just
(i.e., freedom of speech, or whatever law you think is an ex of a just law)
or could we say that those overarching principles of justice are only considered just because they provide us with the just laws that we have?

if you don't think there is such a thing as a just law or have some other semantical discrepency you should rethink your approach

Okay, Im 21 5'-10" (the perfect height for him) and I think that I could pass off as him fairly well, I've seen a few at Disneyland that didn't look much like him. Here is my pic from my myspace:

I was going to possibly do the Disney College program, and to be considered for a face character you have to audition. There is an audition in Seattle next month, so should I try? Do I tell them that thats who I am interested in playing or let them tell me that. Plus I have no acting or dancing experience though. Advice appreciated.
