I am not a creationist but I do believe in a god/creator/source. I cannot get past the point of how enormous and wondrous the universe is and that it had to come from somewhere. Do atheists believe it is just as easy to say it came from no where/always existed than it is to say if had a creator?

What is the predominate belief of atheists when is come to the universe's origin?

Additional Details: This is beyond the "big bang". You could just as well say where did the big bang come from...

Missed my lecture for school and I am in a bind here. If anyone is willing to answer this question, that'd be great.

Times - Ancient China to 500 B.C.E.

I haven't had much luck finding an answer. My textbook is lame, internet is even worse. Only things I can find are about Confucianism and Daoism, but no clear answer.

There seems to be no clear answer as to how/when/where the bow was invented as a weapon for hunting and war. Most of the peoples of the world have at some time, used it. But how it came to their hands seems to be a mystery, how a plains Amerindian or an Aztec had them, how a Pigmy of the Congo forest or a Bushman in Kalahari had them, the same as an English, Syrian, Greek, Parthian, Mongol, etc. Does anyone know where one can find the history of the invention and how it came to be disseminated throughout the planet?

For Example- " like children playing by the ocean who build sand-towers with constancy and then destroy them with laughter. but while you build your sand-towers the ocean brings more sand to the shore, and when you destroy them the ocean laughs with you. verily the ocean laughs always with the innocent. but whatof those to whom life is not an ocean, and man-made laws are not sand-towers, but to whom life is a rock and the law a chisel with which they would carve it in their own likeness? what of teh cripple who hates dancers? what of the ox who loves his yoke and deems the elk and deer of the forest stray and vagrant things?

any input would be greatly appreciated
Patrick

Please describe it...

2007-03-23 06:50:45 · 3 answers · asked by Dave 6 in Books & Authors

I have an idea for a book and I want to know if it sounds good.

The main character is a woman lawyer for a preternatural lawfirm. Her husband (a vampire) is murdered. In her search to find the killer, she finds herself torn between staying faithful to the memory of her husband and the attentions of Eros (Greek god of lust) and a 'Thrope. She hates 'Thropes (werewolf, werecat, weredog, werearmadillo) by the way.

In her searching, she must still remain a mother to her daughter and a high profile lawyer. Her dead husband held a position in the vampire court, and she's stuck learning "fanged politics" (which could have been what killed him).

Sound like a good story? Starting tomorrow, I'm posting updates in my 360.
