Do you have equippment?
First, invest in a good camera. A decent entery level SLR would probably be best.
Get ideas. Have them firmly in your head. Imagine the lighting, materials, etc.
Obtain the materials and extra lighting. Read a book on lighting if you don't know how to get the effects you want.
Assuming that you don't have any female friends, girlfriend, or spouse to practice on:
Post an ad in the forums of OneModelPlace.com or ModelMayhem. Specify pay, and also offer to let the model have the best images for her portfolio (unless you want to pay alot more). Be prepared as some models insist on bringing along "chaperons" -- because having a friend of hers there keeps down the liklihood of rape and other bad things.
You shouldn't pay more than $50 -$75 for a half day if the model is CLOTHED (aka "fashion"). I would suggest starting out by taking good, clothed, pictures of pretty women. It's cheaper starting out and if you and the model get along, she might model lingerie or nudes for you in the future at a cheaper rate.
However, if you want to start out shooting lingerie and nudes, be prepared to spend atleast $200. Depending on the model, this will cover 2 hours or a half-day.
Beginner models are great and usually cheaper or free, but more professional models know how to pose (it IS a skill), and also often know about the light and can help you create much better images for your time than can amateur/beginner models. Experienced models also usually have their own wardrobes and know how to apply makeup...
Also, if you shoot with a more advanced model, she probably has a "fan base" or is more networked than you-- which is a good thing (she might know other models, be able to put in a good word for you, etcetera).
Good luck with it!

Well...first you find a beautiful woman that is willing to pose. Then you spend about 10 years learning photography, probably as a gopher for an established pro. At this point you work your A.. off because the competion is intense. Once you have accomplished all of this it is time to retire and wonder where all of the years went..

Get a real good camera. Start practicing with lighting and other effects. With the digital cameras, who needs darkrooms, but you'll miss out the fun of printing manually.
