How does the text of Anne Frank's diary exemplify issues of identity in Anne? Pushes for an understanding of identity? I'm halfway through this essay and I'm totally blocked. Any ideas that could help me start writing again? (I'm not asking you to write the essay, just bounce ideas of of me that could break this writer's block). Thanks!

Yes, I'll admit it's impressive when I hear someone play an instrument in an amazingly fast and complex way but that kind of music is meaningless to me. It's like a merchant who has perfected his sales pitch and can talk so perfectly that you think you must buy his product.

I much prefer people who use their music to convey emotions and feelings rather than to showcase their unbelievable hand speed. I'll agree that there is a time and place for everything but doing everything virtuoso is not good music. A virtuoso is more of an entertainer than an artist.

I wanted to pay my respects to him. I justy learned that he lived a very sad life. Divorced twice and had a hard time keeping a job because he was "a troublemaker". People didn't want to hire him. He was a janitor in a rest home when he died. How can such a great man, who did a great thing, like start the civil rights movement in Greensboro, which ultimately has affected everyone today, have had a sad life. I want to pay my respects to him and let him know he made a difference somewhere.

It seems that to publish your work, you need a literary agent, but to get a literary agent, you need something published. So is it better to self-publish your work? What is the best way to get your work published? Also, I don't want my work simply published; I'd like to have it seen in bookstores. Or is the marketing part really up to me?

Thanks.

I have tried several times to write a short story, but have never finished one. I have plenty of ideas for them, and my writing style isn't bad. The problem is that I get carried away, and I end up having the idea for entire novels, not just short stories. I want to be able to sit down and knock out a story in just an hour or two! Any tips would be great! Thanks

Someone took the meaning of Emily's poem, wrote her / his own poem with the same basic meaning, and asked for help in improving it. Here's my answer:

There's a certain Slant of light,
Winter Afternoons —
That oppresses, like the Heft
Of Cathedral Tunes —

Heavenly Hurt, it gives us —
We can find no scar,
But internal difference,
Where the Meanings, are —

None may teach it — Any —
'Tis the Seal Despair —
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the Air —

When it comes, the Landscape listens —
Shadows — hold their breath —
When it goes, 'tis like the Distance
On the look of Death —

Emily Dickinson

My wife also writes but is nowhere near as famous as me.
The iron gates leading to my house are decorated with bats.
I use the same 2 professions that I have, as the proffesions of the lead charactors in the majoraty of my books.
Many of my books have been made into films.
I have cameo appearances in most of the films that my stories have been made into.
I write short stories as well as novels.
I wrote 3 books under a pen name as an experiment.
