Given that the present instant is a flash, do we only remember it after our brain has had time to hit ENTER, like in 43 hundredths of a second or whatever?
I myself have remembered certain things better than I experienced them initially, and those were actual events that occurred over a minute or more, more than the present instant -- could that be even more true the infinitesimal event, which is the present instant?

Could it be the brain does not even try to experience the present instant, since its computing skills are not adroit, and correct me if I'm wrong; but the brain just takes the easy way and remembers the present instant -- actually getting a clearer view if it that way.
That could explain a lot of things, but I don't know what.

In HS I read a short story that took place in WWII Italy. The story centered around four women that were traveling together and talking about their sons and their various stances and positions in war. The last woman's son died, but she was proud of it. In the end however, you could tell that she was really torn up about losing her son.

I thought the title was "The War", but that dosen't seem to be it. I also think that the story was written in Italy... maybe it was translated from Italian? I read it for a world literature class.

Has anybody ever read this short story? I'd just like to read it again. Thanks!

I found this on wwwpoetry.com and submitted a poem. They sent me a letter stating they would publish the poem and I could buy the book, but didnt pressure me into the purchase. They also stated that they would still publish the poem if I did not buy the book. They also entered me into a sweepstakes drawing for $1,000.

Is general adult fiction or general fiction mean that the agent/publisher takes all genres, when it's not specified? I'm just curious.

The Americans got a real kicking and at the time it was a major success for the Japanese.

All countries celebrate past victories in battle particually us English even where looking back, we were in the wrong.

It's a fact that they were medium to dark skinned Caucasian people, not light skinned. Also, why aren't they depicted as wearing more Earth tone colors, such as tan, biege,or orange, since these are the most common colors of the Middle East, even the sunset over there, since that's where they're from originally.

Most people from that part of the world are medium to dark skinned, with dark hair & eyes. Some are Caucasian, some aren't.

what's the beauty of life if your dreams aren't realized

i'm not talking about material wealth, family, children; what's being expected/conventional. i'm talking about something that only belongs to you, someth. that you really, really long for; like finding your romantic soulmate, creating a masterpiece...

thanks

"The body, which is made up of five elements,
is weak and is bound to disintegrate.
Though a hundred years of life-span is prescribed,
one cannot take it for granted.
One may leave his mortal coil at any time,
be it in childhood, youth, or old age.
Death is certain.
Hence, before the body perishes,
make efforts to know your true nature. "
