I don't know how good company leads to detachment, but I do know that detachment leads to freedom from delusional beliefs and on towards mental liberation thus producing a free thinking human being. But being a free thinker is a lonely human being to be.

It is as if being on the outside looking in.

Detachment makes one free from delusions??

Do you feel you are deluded?

Good company wont lead you to detachment.

Solitude makes one detached.

However , being detached doesnt necessarily make one free from delusion.

One can be detached and deluded at the same time.

Besides , how do you define "good company" ?

Good and bad are relative.

So dont put much faith in "good company"

Freedom from detachment allows us not to be delusional regarding the trust we put into things. (Or the dependence we have on them). Therefore, our minds are "freed" to think about or study the higher forms of thinking.

I myself am delusional, and I have no problem with that; so what are you saying?

Since I am delusional, and I like it, I must ask you why delusion and steadiness of mind are mutually exclusive. I feel that my mind is reasonable steady, and I like it. What is the whole point of your question?
