Underwood Typewriter Company , New York , USA
The Underwood was designed by Franz Wagner, who had earlier been involved with other models, such as the Densmore. Production was taken up by John Underwood, son of a typewriter ribbon manufacturer. The first Underwood appeared in 1895. It was not exactly the first 4-bank frontstrike typewriter in the market (that honor goes to the Daugherty), but it was in fact the first totally reliable one. Is that the name of the story? It was about a Hungarian man and his daughter whose name was Kate (I think). Once he buys her her own white horse. It described their lifestyle, rounding up wild horses, her traditional costumes etc. I don't know if that is the book's name or not, can you confirm?
