Okay. First of all, "Bajazet" is by Racine, not Moliere.

Beyazid (Bajazet in the play) was an Ottoman prince and the brother of Sultan Murad IV (Amurat in the play). In 1635, Murad had Beyazid killed because he considered him to be a dangerous rival.

"In the play, the main characters—the young prince Bajazet, his beloved Atalide, and the jealous sultana Roxane—are the mortal victims of the despotic cruelty of the absent sultan Amurat, whose reign is maintained by violence and secrecy."
