I primarily teach 20th century narrative (fiction and film) to many college students in the US for whom this may be their only exposure to so-called "World Literature." What have been some of your enjoyable reading experiences that are not originally written in English?

In case you're wondering, I already have:

A PENNANT FULL OF LAUGHTER by Wilm Polheim
SLIDING INTO FIRST BACKWARDS: THE 1984 PADRES AND THEIR QUEST FOR WINS AND LAUGHS by Justin Mortimer
LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE PENNANT by Ken Maxwell
THE NORTH MEXICO ALL STARS by Norman Mailer
EXPLOSION: THE EXPLOITS OF THE '84 PADRES by John Gibby
PADRETOWN: HOW A PENNANT WINNER CHANGED A CITY by Randy Pfund

and the mediocre recent book: HITS, HOMERS, AND LAUGHS: IN THE DUGOUT WITH THE NL CHAMPION 1984 SAN DIEGO PADRES, ONE OF BASEBALL'S GREATEST TEAMS by Ed Schwartz

And I have all eight biographies and memoirs, including the out of print (and unabridged) version of Kevin McReynolds' A SCOT IN SAN DIEGO COURT

There's been a lot of brouhaha over James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces," but did the editors of the Big Book ever fact-check Bill Wilson's stories?

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. (Mixing of east meets west philosphies today, I just got this one off of a tv show, and thought about a quote of what jesus said, and came up with what I think is a good question)

i was just reading a question were some one anwsered with god puts you in the right circumstances, doesnt that violate free will when we talk about god doing thing, and doesnt that interfer with humans wanting to do things, if they are waiting for god to do it for them, like when people ask god for break throughs, isnt it enough for use to ask him to give us the strenght to solve our on problems, then asking him to solve our problem for use

We all are motivated by different things. In my life I have traveled and lived in many countries and flown around many parts of the world. What is one thing that you have always wanted to do and why is it so important to you?
