I have a interesting situation at my place of business. I recently graduated with a Bachelor's in accounting. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in accounting. I have been working at my job for 1-1/2 years, but after I graduated, my boss never gave me an appropriate raise.

The pros about where I work is that I have really flexible hours. Since I am attending college still, my boss allows me time to take off and study for a test or work on projects as needed. However, althought I do not take off that often, when I need the time, it is beneficial.

My boss knows that I will take less pay in order to have those flexible hours as needed, but I feel like I should be getting paid more after receiving my degree. I am currently getting paid $11.25 and I know that the average starting pay for someone with my education and experience is around $16.00.

Even though it is a small firm, I feel like I desreve to be paid more. How do I ask for a raise without soudnig greedy?

A 22 year old mother has died after giving birth to twins. Allegedly she had refused, on religious grounds, a blood transfusion which may have saved her.

What an utterly pointless loss of a young life.

Apparently in the UK doctors are not able to overule their patients religious beliefs. I would argue that in these cases the patients brain is so riddled with irrational belief that they are incapable of making a sensible decision. I think that doctors should medically intervene to protect the patients interests, and the interests of her now motherless children.

I have applied for an FHA mortgage; the lender just called me to ask if I ommitted any accounts on the application because I don't have any reserves. The only reserve I would have had - the ability to borrow from the vested bal of my 401K plan - is going to be gone because I need to borrow the down payment and a portion of the closing costs from it.

If I had a relative give me a gift of the down payment, and then sign a gift letter - I am completely prohibited from ever paying that person back? As in I don't take the 401K loan, I get the gift and gift letter, and then I take the 401K loan at some time in the future to repay her???
