I would be offended... but i would rather hear it from her rather than someone else.... but if she does maybe you should tell her to say it in a more kindly way.. not so direct

I get offended all the time when she tells me I need to GAIN weight. It's not like I haven't tried, and I do eat a whole lot. It's just that I'm different from the rest of my siblings. I am more petite because my metabolism is higher then theirs. I use to work out to stay fit and healthy. Now I've stop and I still don't gain much. Now she does the same thing to my son, saying he needs to GAIN more he is too skinny it's like I don't feed my child which I find very very offensive!

No way. If my mom told me i was packing on a bit too many I'd probably have to go ahead and look in the mirror. Why would I get offended by my mom?

I would probably be offended, but she is just trying to help you avoid a future weight problem. When I was younger, my mother would tell me that my stomach was getting big, etc. I resented her, and just said that I would suck it in. Well, she was right, and I gained more weight. The moral of the story is, listen to mom. She may be cruel in her delivery of the problem, but this could help you later in life.

I wouldn't be offended if what she was saying was true, although overweight people typically know when they are and don't need others to remind them of it. I can look in the mirror and tell when I'm fat, I don't need friend or family to clue me in.

Only if it wasn't true. If you don't like it, though, I'd have a talk with her about it. If that doesn't work, think of something SHE needs to change about herself and "occasionally" bring it up. :-)

A cousin of mine told me I was too young to be as overweight and out of shape as I was. I started working on myself and I thank her every day. She was right, in my case.
Also you can be a smart *** and tell her she's not looking so hot herself!!! :-)
