I found out more of the reason why I was not accpeted into college. My highchool credits do not appease the admissions. I lack 2 foreign languages and 1 lab science (they do not accept principles of technology cm as physics, that is just another name for it were i live)
and algebra 2 (highschool did not offer algebra 2 at the time). Pretty much to the colleges I did not graduate from highschool as far as they are concerned. I took a full load of classes all 4 years without ever failing a class, however. I cant take college courses to appease these requirements ( they only appease to the college level and still demand a highschool level requirement to appease that I fullfilled the highschool requirements) I have already graduated from highschool, Is it possible to get a GED as well to get these requirements? To look at my original question first

I am a minister's wife, and there is a girl who is not very clean (as in, does not wash her hands after she uses the rest room, rubs her nose and hair, does not bathe often, etc) who touches my daughter's hands, arms, and face. Of course, my daughter (who is 6 mos old) pops her hands right in her mouth. I don't let this girl hold her (for other reasons), but she constantly follows us around begging me to hold my daughter and tries to play with her.

How can I deal with this nicely? What would you do?

I work for a company & get paid hourly for 40 hours of work. Thing is, anything over 40, i get paid with cash at regular wage and it's supposed to be under the table. It may sound like a bad deal, but since it was off the books, an employee could accumulate a decent amount of hours (some guys were working 90 hours) and get paid a much larger check than if you got paid time and a half with restricted hours. Come tax time, my boss hits me with a 1099 along with my W2, and so now I have to report the extra income. I know it's my own fault for getting myself involved in this mess, but is what my boss doing legal? Can I sue for time and a half owed to me? Is there any other action I can take?

I have a little girl who is turning 5 in a couple of weeks. She knows all of her letters and most of her sounds. She is very serious about learing how to read. She decided she wanted to do this herself (she is only in preschool). She is very prould when she remembers the word. However, because she is so young she doesn't remember all of them and gets frustrated. Do you have any advice on how to keep her encouraged? And, any advice on ways to teach her to read? What worked for you?

Ok, you can call this the worst joke ever that i made up! ;) Tell me whatca think:

Ok, there was this guy named Eric, and he cherished his pet avocado, of course, named Avocado. He treated it like his own child. One day, this girl named Jane offered to watch over Avocado while Eric went to the store. While Eric was at the store, Jane got real hungry, but there was nothing to eat.
When Eric came back, Jane announced "I renamed Avocado." Eric asked her, "Ok, so what's his new name?" Jane held out a large mixing bowl, and said "Guacamole".

The technological singularity is approaching. What science fiction books do you recommend for the purpose of mentally preparing for, and affecting, what according to singularitarians like Ray Kurzweil may happen during the coming 40 years or so? I want science fiction that treats issues on the coming continuingly accelerating technology development and its political consequences, stuff that is interesting for humanity's development; paradise engineering scenarios as well as disaster scenarios. I want the kind of hardcore, science-based but still mind-blowing science fiction ideas that singularitarians say may be relevant to our political (and also individual) decisions in our REAL life the coming decades.

PS Anyone tempted to answer that I shouldn't rely on science fiction if I want to prepare for the future, please google "technological singularity" and read about it first!
