I have loved to read since I was a little girl. I am a relatively fast reader, and I have always scored high on standardized tests of comprehension. I would say in general, reading is usually a strength of mine. Reading novels, literature, poetry, non-fiction, biographies, stories, ANYTHING I can read with ease EXCEPT college textbooks! Its very weird, because when it comes to reading my college text I am completely unmotivated because I have such a hard time concentrating. The chapters are so long, and the content is so full of vagueness, jargon, and mostly information I find to be boring or presented in a very dull and/or complicated way. When I read my textbooks I don't feel like I'm truly absorbing much of the material at all. I zone out, my mind drifts, and I feel like I CAN'T control it. I'll read a page, pause to review what I just read, and find I have no clue.
Please help, has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to overcome this problem?
