The college I attend is considering banning smoking on campus. The current smoking policy maintains that students cannot smoke in buildings or within 30 feet of entryways. However, they are considering changing to no smoking on sidewalks or any streets owned by the university rather than the city. I don't smoke, but I do have mixed feelings about it. I don't mind walking around people that are smoking. If I'm behind a smoker, I speed up and walk around them. If I pass someone as they blow out a puff of smoke, I hold my breath for a few steps. But I don't like the areas around some buildings were smokers congregate, the ones that, even when no one's there, still smell like smoke. There's no way to avoid the smell. I know that if I were a smoker, I wouldn't want have to leave camous just to smoke. I definitely see many positives and negatives to the change, what do you think?
