Consonants have pretty much one sound only, however there are digraphs -combinations of 2 consonants that stand for 1 sound - such as: ch, sh, th. Vowels on the other hand are tricky, there are many different vowel sounds depending on the words and/or the combination of vowels. If you want to see a clear, easy example look at the pronunciation table in a dictionary! You can also check out this website

it shows you how the different sounds are actually formed!
