How does violent response to violence break the circle of violence? I see variations of this behavior everywhere. For example, parents spank children for hitting other children. It doesn't work, but parents continue to do it. There is no evidence that executing killers reduces the number of murders, but lots of people think capital punishment is the only appropriate response to killing.

My poor lab/chow + mix is the best doggy EVER! I trained her without any hard hitting and with a lot of rewards. I got her when she was only 8wks and she's very obediant and gentle. The ONLY thing she has trouble with is licking when someone arrives.. a little overwhelming.
The last 4 months she has changed a lot though. When men show up at the house, like the pest control guy or anyone with a hat or holding something, she shakes. She runs and hides somewhere. She also used to play fetch with everything and now if I get her bone away from her and try to throw it she jumps like I am going to hit her with it.
My theories are that a meter reader came in back one day and was scared of her and maybe mased her, or maybe my neighbors hit her for getting into her yard (they have a guard dog) I dont know what else it could be. The vet said maybe seisures but she hasnt had any other signs. What should I do to find out if someones hitting her? How can I break her from the fear?

We are both 30 years old, have been together for 10 years and married for 5 years. There is no abuse or anything else negative. I just think we are 2 different people from when we got married. And I am no longer physically or spiritually attracted to her. May be that we were too young in the first place and didn't know ourselves.

1) Officials won't act aggressively against an institution they're claiming puts American lives at risk, because it's politically untenable. That would mean the administration is putting politics ahead of aggressively prosecuting behavior it says endangers American lives.

2) The administration doesn't genuinely believe The Times has put our national security at risk at all, and hence won't act. If this is the case, both Snow and Cheney blatantly and repeatedly lied.

Which is it ? Did they endanger the American public and if so why aren't charges pending ? Is this just more deflection on the part of the White House to wipe more mud off it's shoes ? If they really believe these accusations are true shouldn't they follow up on them ? Seriously ?
