Either way its still would be under electronia.

Whether its electronica rock or a main category such as dance that stands out on it own.

But I SERIOUSLY doubt anyone would call it dance alone.

If anything, I want to say that it might be a heavy form of "trip-hop" - with similar but lighter bands including Orbital, Portishead, Massive Attack, and even Bjork to a certain extent.

If you like them, you should check out this band called Gravity Kills.

But remember, the genre is what the artist wants to call it. If you can't label it, then maybe the artist left the void so that it they would not have a label and thus be expected to perform in a certain way with every CD and possibly let fans down when they come up with something new.

According to Yahoo! Music, the Prodigy's latest albums, Hotride is listed as:

Genres: Electronic/Dance, Breaks, House, Techno, Modern Rock

I would call them dance music. Although 'dance music' is a pretty redundant term these days as 'dance' can now be divided into 20 or 30 different catagories.

The reason I would classify them as dance as opposed to rock is because even though they hire session guitarists to play on some tracks, most of the work is done over a mixing desk by Liam H. Wheras rockband spend hundreds of hours jamming in the garage/recording in the studio etc

Just a point about a previous answer... so Flatsch, the following are not by your definition rock music then..... ELP: Rush: Cream: Budgie: The Jimi Hendrix Experience: The Jam: Wolfmother: Muse: Ben Folds Five: Keane (all trios with one/no guitar): Pink Floyd: Yes: Led Zeppelin: The Who (all one guitarist): The Doors (no bassist)......... I'm sure most people would be surprised by that.

I love the Prodigy. They are not "rock" or "dance" music. And certainly not "industrial" as someone else commented..

It is simply called "electronic". And damn good electronic music. I heart Prodigy.

power-dance-pop, because rockmusik needs 2 guitarrs, bass and drum kit, some microphones and several amplifiers and speakers
