Sight has been proved to be a function of the brain. The simplest demonstration of this is to look at an object and then close your eyes and visualize the object. You "see" the object -- in your mind. This is because the brain learns to "see". If the brain is presented with something it does not know, has not learned to see, it does not "see" it, or "sees" it as something else. This is a fundamental concept with far ranging implications.

For those who oppose it, does it hinge on the concept that the viewpoints that they have are not Biblically sound? If not, what aspect of it are you bothered by?

Recently I've had nausea, headache, a cold, and maybe a little bit of tonsilitis for three or four days. During that time, my ears twinged a bit, but didn't really hurt until last night. I was relaxing, working on a nice Sudoku puzzle when I tilted my head. I felt and heard fluid moving somewhere inside my inner ear. I tilted it at a sharper angle, and it hurt. That triggered throbbing, aching pain that I couldn't ignore. Ibuprofen did nothing for it. It lasted for about two hours, and during that time I paced, watched Law & Order, and tried to sleep, but it just wouldn't go away. Finally, when my sleeping pills kicked in, I yawned, and something happened. It popped a little bit, and the fluid moved. The pain went away. I moved my head around and it throbbed just a bit, but it was basically gone. I don't know if any discharge came out because I was under the influence of sleeping pills and went to sleep very shortly afterward. Could my eardrum have ruptured?

This is something I became curious about and dug into it. Now I want to see if you know. I'll give best answer to whoever is closest. I want to know how it is that the word "mortar" came to represent both the cement that's used hold bricks in place and the contemporary military weapon that is a small tube-shaped rocket launcher.

If God created Adam, and Eve of Adam's rib and they had 2 son's, Cain & Abel, and Cain killed Abel, & God kicked Cain out of Eden, who was the woman who Cain met while he was wondering the land (his sister?), who became his wife and helped him build a city with who?, were are all these people coming from?, and if she is from another tribe does that mean that God created more people after Adam and Eve or before. If so why they are never mentioned in the Bible they only mentioned Seth a 3rd child Of Adam & Eve and that they had more children, but they dont say how many. Please dont tell me that I have to have faith, thats a poor answer.

My friend invited a girl from school (both me and her are 14 going on 15.) to his moms company picnic. When I met her I completly changed: I whent from talkative and playfully stupid to quite and a less energetic. From the time I met her I've ate alot less, I've been more tired, I can't stop thinking about her, and I can't concentrate on things very well cause I cant stop thinking about her. What was also strange to me was that she talked less to me than she talked to anyone else, but she did say random comments, stare at me every once in a while, and she tried to start a conversation once but my friend interupted. Also when I was staring at the bench she was on just thinking she layed down so that her face was right were I was looking. The big question here is does she like me or am I just looking at things differently? The only problum is the only person I know with her number is my friend who invited her,and he likes her too. Does she like me and what do I do about my friend?

Last year, when I got up to around 8 miles, I suddenly developed knee problems (probably runner's knee - chondromalacia) that got so bad I stopped running for the season (even after a two-week break, the pain would come back within a mile).

I've looked into shoes, my form, pronation, knee exercises, stretching- but one frequent factor contributing to runner's knee is how fast one increases their mileage. However, I can't find any sort of remotely authoritative sounding recommendations on how quickly I should increase (preferably something backed by some research, but otherwise at least backed by a doctor or someone with sports-medicine credentials). I've heard stuff between adding several miles a week and "not more than a 10% increase per week," never with any references.

I'm not looking for "this worked OK for me," I'm looking for at least slightly authoritative recommendations, if available.
