For those who oppose it, does it hinge on the concept that the viewpoints that they have are not Biblically sound? If not, what aspect of it are you bothered by?

I would like to clarify that I'm not talking about rappers who just claim to be Christian because they want God's protection, I'm talking about the ones whose first priority is to make sure that their lifes and their lyrics match what God wants.

First off, it doesn't incite anger just in Black men also white people (see Eminem). Not all rappers have their pants hangin off their behinds....see gospel rappers.

Rap is not for everyone! Just like I can't stand hard rock, but does that mean it can't be used to evangelize, no, but it probably wouldn't work on me. There are a lot bias kind of one sided opinions on here about rap. I suggest and it's a serious suggestion, if you want to hear some real rap that is completely gospel listen to Da' Truth. He is with The Cross Movement. Then make your judgments on an art form that I guarantee your kids are listening to, whether they are white or black.

I'm half white and half black and my 55 year old mother loves the Cross Movement...she's a funny lady and surprises me daily....

Rap is an acceptable venue of evangelism, by personal opinion..because there are so many young people who listen to it, and people who grew up in the rap/hip hop era...that's music to them, and that's what they are going to listen to...music is a big thing in America and it rules alot of choices some of us make, it counsels us, it gives us good or bad feelings, it comforts us...so why not let it minister to us...and enable us to have fun as Christians.

I just can't take Christian rap seriously. Sorry, I laugh everytime I see it... uncontrollably.

Rap is usually the venue of the "thug" lifestyle. Rap talks about life on the streets and the dangers associated with and the rewards for escaping: hos and bling.

Sure it is, as long as the words carry an evangelical message. I was playing a song by the Christian parody band Apologetix at the Jail where I go to teach the Bible to inmates that was a take off of a song by eminem. You can check 'em out on the Free Stuff page on my website @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/

After all, the Apostle Paul said...For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Its nothing to do with Christianity, Im an athiest. Appart from its obviously garbage sound, I beleive that rappers intentionally makes young black men paranoid and angry. It makes them feel that the only way to get respect is to be a gangster. Its so retarded.

I am bothered by rap because of its hypocrisy. A rap singer can call women bitches and whores, glorify murder, say how great pre-marital sex is, and revel in materialism, yet say they are devout Christians.

How many Commandments have they broken so far?

calling women bitches and whores (Love Thy Neighbor as Thee Love Thyself)

glorify murder (Thou Shall Not Kill)

great pre-marital sex (Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery)

revel in materialism (Thou Shall Have No Graven Image Before Me) (Before you argue this one, think about how much those rappers love their bling.)

It's bullshiit, every bit of it. A rapper doesn't want to evangelize, proselytize, or save your soul. A rapper wants your money, plain and simple. Millions of people buy into Christianity, so the rappers figure that those millions of people will buy their music if it appears evangelical. Those rappers have to afford their bling somehow.

Besides, I don't think the Apostles referred to each other as "ni$$er" or "homie."

The bible says to make a joyful sound, it does not say exactly what would be acceptable, and what wouldn't. If you enjoy it and your getting the message out there without cramming it down peoples throats, then I don't see the problem.

Why not? We're supposed to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. God didn't specify what kind of noise.

Rap is only an acceptable venue for scaring crows away from crops.

I don't see why not. It could draw in kids who are used to thinking of Church(and hense Christianity) as boring.
