southwest, southeast, it doesn't matter. The south is the south. And everybody has a southern accent.

I'm not from here so I don't understand, but I hear people doing this sometimes. But if that's the case, shouldn't people from other states be making fun of people from Texas, since no matter how you put it, Texas is still in the south? As I see it, you have no room to talk.

My wife and I might be there in the middle of January for the Houston Marathon and we'd like to know if there is anything to do. Otherwise I'll choose another city's marathon to run... most likely Miami.

This is my third and last post on the subject. Again, I know that not all americans are racist or disrespectful. There are lots of Amercians that are a true example of human values & Many showed that value in this subject. Now, the fact that someone accuses of racist that doesnt mean he is racist too... that is not a logical answer... we were in fact victims of racism of a few americans and my right to express my self on the subject doesnt mean that I am racist too at no level. I am derending our integraty. The actions you make define you as a person and human. We also (as humans) have to be responsable for our acts and not defend our selves atacking back. I understand that my grandmother made a mistake with her paper stuff, but is not a excuss to treat her so roughly and as a criminal... there are also laws of life to treat people with more respect, right?
Peace begins when U put your self on the position of others and understand.

Well, if you read my post you will know what I am talking about... what happened to my grandmothe was really bad.
I would like to say that in fact not all americans are racist and disrespectful. I read many nice responses and I would like to thank those ones for understanding my feeling and situation, I really appreciate that and those showed values and honesty. but unfortunately, most of the replies were just giving confirmation about how disrespecful and racist most americans can be, low human quality (I am not talking about all Amercins). Many replies were in fact racist and rude about a true fact, something real that is happening everyday. I understand that you have laws, but you also should know differences about real criminals and a misunderstanding. I mean I am not the only one who thinks this way.
To the truly racist and disrespectful and ego selfish people out there... I am truly sorry for you for the path you have chossen in life.
Thanks again to the nice and honest ones!!!

To me it is incredible the way you american treat people... I would really use stronger words to describe your %&#"&/? actitud but I am not like you. My grandmother, a 85 year old woman (from Spain) was going to be ARRESTED like a criminal when checking in at the airport just because she passed 5 days on her previous trip on and it was because of YOUR FAULT due to pilot strike a couple of years ago. How dare you people to arrest like a criminal a 85 year old woman and deport her???? It is a huge disrespect not just to a woman, to a old person... you people have no values to be racist. How come a police man tell her that she is a latin person breaking amercian law...
Who do you think you are??? God???
What are you so afraid of??? Are you so afraid to arrest a 85 year old woman in wheelchair???

You people are the worst!!!

Hi, I am thinking about moving from California to Houston to go the UofH to get my masters degree in hospitality. My question is "Do Houstans hate Californians?" I know this is a problem in the deep south. I am a republican if that helps. :) Tell me about the city...good areas, bad areas. I would love to live in a quiet community, maybe with a golf course (I love to golf!) Also, I have heard that the city has "gone down" since Katrina due to the large masses of unemployed people coming from NO. Is it really as bad as the media says? Is the City of Houston doing anything to correct this problem (if there is one)? Thanks everyone.
