It depends on the airline. I have my son fly on Southwest because they have a really nice flight crew, AND they don't charge UM fees - some airlines will charge these fees up till the person is over the age of 16!!

So, first check with your airline. However, if it is determined that you no longer hold UM flight status (as in your parents are not required to fill out a flight waiver/info packet), then you do not need to have a person meet you at the gate at the destination - unless you want them to.

If your parent/guardian DOES need to fill out the UM data sheet (that you carry with you throughout your flight) then yes, you will need someone to meet you at the other end to sign for receipt of your person.

Again, check with the airline before you leave.

If the child is flying as an unaccompanied minor then you do need to designate someone to pick him up. Otherwise you don't have to. If the child is flying regularly, then no one has to 'check him out'.

I think you do. i was a UM for a while (dad in chicago, mom in atlanta) and i often, even though i wasn't official i went ahead and asked one if i need to. then they ask how old you are, and depending on their mood, they'll probably have to keep tabs on you until they see a parent.

once you're off the plane, you're on your own.
