There really is alot to do in Houston .. It just depends on what you are in to. Downtown has some good restaurants (The Aquarium), bars, theaters, ballets, etc.., Astros and Texans games are worth catching. The Galleria area is nice with some good places to eat (Cheesecake Factory, Fox Sports Bar and Grill) and shop (good mixture of high end and everyday stores). Near the Galleria on Westheimer there are tons of good places to eat (The Melting Pot, Benni Hanas, Hooters, etc..) and shop Buffalo Exchange, shops in the strip malls). There are several good museums (arts, sciences) and the Houston zoo is nice and cheap. Rice Village is a cool place to hang out near the museums and the zoo. Miller park has some cool outdoor events. Galveston has a pretty cool atmosphere with the seawall and the strand. Schlitterbaun opened a water park in Galveston next to Moody Gardens (both are worth checking out). The Woodlands area is nice, and there are usually alot of good concerts to go to. If you have several bands that you enjoy check their websites to see if they are going to be playing in Houston while you are here. There are alot of great music venues with some pretty good shows to catch.
