Does anyone know the history of this fortress and medieval citadel?

I am thinking to go to Spain between January and Febreuary to learn Spanish. I want to explore the Spanish culture and have a peice of mind. Is there any schools that you recommend? Which city do you think is the best for what I am looking for? And do you think that a period of two weeks will be enough?

I am travilling alone and I dont want it to be so expensive.

We are thinking of taking a week or 2 week long family vacation to Spain next year. Spain is one of our top destinations. As a kid I lived in El Puerto de Santa Maria. I would love to go back there and visit...Rota and Jerez as well. Just wondering if any of these cities are cheap and inexpensive hotel-wise or would we be better off staying elsewhere such as Madrid or Sevilla and just taking a day trip over to the Jerez/Puerto/Rota area?

my existing job doesnt really exsist in spain, so id need to start something new, i have varied intrests, im only 32 & can drive.

Somwhere not influenced by tourism and not too much modern stuff. Somewhere with dirt roads...perhaps a village.its kind of a romantic ideal, but I'm sure its out there, i mean, its Spain! Somewhere to get lost... :)

We are arriving in Madrid on December 23 and have three days to make the most of our trip. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day may be very family-oriented for the Spanish and I wonder what we will be able to do. Are there events on Christmas Eve in churches and elsewhere?

I want to go to spain for my next holiday (can't wait to get away from this cold weather!) what is the best part of Spain you have been to...ie: beach holidays, nice restaurants and bars, pretty scenery, nice hotels and lots of Sangria! WARM SEA and golden beaches is a must!
