I like to go May-July time period, but I spend most of my time in Granada and near the Costa del Sol. The heat doesn't bother me.

Tapas and beer...the only way to stay cool in Andalucia.

Depends on your taste. If you like a crowed, warm, hot and lot of fun Spain definitely summer but in the cost areas. If you like not so warm weather probably come in spring time, where is not hot but aint not cold either.
In summer most cities are empty, Madrid for example, so thts why it depends, not so crowed will give you the opportunity to walk and enjoy the city. My advice is Autumn, spring or summer .. not winter :P 2 cold

I agree with Beez. Mid September - November. Me personally anytime I can get time off from work is the perfect time.
