Basically you have 3 things to consider:
- cost of accomodation
- cost of nessecities
- cost of fun

If you get a cheap hotel but need to spend 60 euro a day just for food and things to pass the day then it is not a cheap stay.
If you get a great place to stay with cheap amenities but it is a 50 mile drive to get milk then you will have to spend a fortune on travel.

I would reccomend staying somewhere which it quiet and small (a village for example) but within an hour's drive of a big city. The costas are not great for nessecities prices (cheap compared to the UK but expensive for Spain) BUT are cheap for hotels. If you stay inland then the prices of hotels are higher but everything else is a bit cheaper. Renting a house, appartment of villa is probably best.

I'm off to Spain on friday (I need to pack!) for 4 days. I am staying here: http://images.ownersdirect.co.uk/a59516.jpg (well just the other side of the valley from there). It's a village near Cordoba called Fuente Del Conde. Anywhere inland in Andalucia is great value.

If you would prefer a city to stay in I would reccomend Granada, Cordoba or Malaga - nice and inexpensive, not too touristy (that is to say not "beach & booze" places) and have a lot to see and do. Malaga and Granada also have airports (no need for a hire-car in the city!).

Anyway that is what I would reccomend to you. Have a great trip whatever you decide upon.

Depends when you are planning on going to Spain. Best time is before the summer season starts or my favorite, wait until the European school vacations end, usually 2nd week of September. You can expect major hotel and tour rebates plus most stores are having their summer end clearance and you can get great deals on clothing and other stuff.
Lloret de Mar is still in party mode that time of year. If you want more peace and quite head South of Barcelona.

Advertise that you are looking to house sit through the winter months, many home owners in Spain would rather you house sit, than pay maintenance companies to look after there property through the low season

Your mum and dad probable think of its dangerous for a 17 12 months previous woman to pass to Amsterdam. They little question are familiar with the drug/intercourse scene and don't opt for you to take a gamble of entering into some style of difficulty.

Once you get through the airport, find a baggage handler or bus driver and assault him. The police will arrive pretty quickly and put you up for a while FOC.

Torrevieja
South of Alicante

Plenty of rentals on line or just check places when you get there

Not a big place, but plenty to do
