I live in Spain in Javea on the Costa Blanca and up until a couple of days ago we had really warm daytime temperatures, some days as high as 28c in the sun, a little cooler in the shade. The nights can be quite chilly, especially if we have a northerly wind, which we have at the moment. The night time temperatures drop to around 13c. You can never really tell from one week to the next. Last Christmas we had lunch out on the terrace and it was 29c. The first day of January was even warmer and people were swimming in the sea. My suggestion would be to go to the BBC weather information and type in the city that you are going to be staying in and they give you the next 5 days weather forecast, including wind direction, which can be very important. I would take some light clothes to wear in the day, but bring something warm for the evenings. Hope the weather is good for you and that you have a lovely time. I'll order sunshine for you. Have a great time. Merry Christmas.

Before you go check on bbc teletext,go to weather pages and click on europe. This should give you a run through of the temperatures and weather conditions for the next week or so in the spanish costas and cities.Madrid is always quite chilly in the winter as it is inland away from the coast.Hope this helps and have a nice time!

December is usually the wettest month in Spain and it will be quite chilly. Whoever above stated that it will be hot has obviously never been to Spain in December.
You can't bring that much as you are travelling overseas, but I'd definitely dress in layers and bring some gloves.

Whatever you decide to take... Pack it in a space bag!
You can fit EVERYTHING in them so you can take more with you using less space and have a mix of everything you need just in case!
We have asked the hotel maid if we could use their vacuum at many 4 star hotels and they are always willing to help~ otherwise, bring extra luggage because you have to re seal it on the return trip!

My best advice is that whatever you take, only take two colors for example denim and white. This way, you can pack light, access bleach for light laundering to keep your whites clean and the denim will hide soiling and spills. Also, with kids, they can interchange clothing thru out the trip thus taking less will mean more.
