I have to do this project in my italian 4 class on Italy. I have to pick a region of Italy, describe its capitol city, and make a 5 course menu (appetizer, pasta/salad, main dish, fruits/vegetables, and a dessert) of food thats traditionally found in that region.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a beautiful region of Italy that has amazing food? Thanks so much

My boyfriend and I are going to Rome for four days and three nights... I'm a huge fan of Time Out guides and have used them for every city I've been to, I have the rome guide but this has given me so many options that I don't know where to start! Rome is just so full of beautiful sights that I don't want to miss anything but I don't want to rush around trying to do it all and not spend enough time on the best places. the obvious ones go without saying, but I just thought maybe someone would have some really top tips and secret places! Off the beaten track is wonderful. We're in mid twenties so no worries about walking around, and any night time fun suggestions would be great.Thank you so much.

I’m moving to Rome to study at an Italian university. I need information about finding housing, getting visas and what steps I need to take before I leave to ensure that I am well prepared when I get there. Let me know of anything (especially books) that you might have found useful.

Hello, Just wondering if someone can help me out. I will be arriving at the Milan airport at the end of January and my lay over will be for 8.5 hours. So I want to go into the city and see and do things while I have so much time in between flights. Can any one tell me how to get to the city from the airport? Back and forth? What to do and go see while I have the time? Any shopping markets around? I really would hate to be in that airport for that long. Thanks!!
ps. it will be my first time in Italy! Hopefully I run into the italian singer Nek!

We have been advised to try "agritourism" as a way of seeing Italy cheaply - holidays where you stay on a farm and help with the harvest, so your board is a little cheaper. Unfortunately when I search on the internet I can only find family holidays and "peaceful getaways" - not at all what we're looking for really! We want a holiday that's cheap and cheerful and where we can all muck in and lend a hand. Any ideas how to go about booking a holiday like this? Possibly you have to contact the farms direct - if so would appreciate contact details.

HAS ANYONE EVER TAKEN A HOLIDAY LIKE THIS? PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE!

thanks a bunch

Okay, I have been to Italy before...Rome, Florence, and Assisi. I would really like to visit all of Italy but I am on a strict budget. So I chose Venice to travel to while I'm in Rome for a year. Any ideas on how much a trip to Venice would cost (be there for about a week maybe)? I am very low maintenance, but would like to visit all the museums and sights. I'm thinking I would probably stay in a youth hostel. Any idea on the conditions of the hostels in Venice? Are they nice for a hostel?

Also, what are the best times of the year to go? What would be the best way to get me there (i.e. train, bus...)? And any other general advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I'm planning to visit Italy for a week or two I always like Italy and everything about it the food culture...etc. but I'm wondering would I face some problems with the Italians because I'm Muslim girl and I wear headcover? (I don't cover my face and I don't wear veil)
I've been in Europe before (France, Switzerland.. etc) and I didn’t face any problem. My brother also been in Italy before and said the people there were nice and friendly, but still I'm wondering about my self as a women and how the Italian deal with strangers and foreigners. Thank you.. ciao

A girl friend and I will be traveling to Italy in August 2007 for a week and we want to see places between Veniza and Rome. I've been 30 years ago and just drove into a town and found a room in a guest house or Zimmer, she is the type that wants to book all her accomodations ahead of time. Is it still possible to find good lodging in family run guest homes in most towns, that is acceptable as far as clean and resonable, especially if your from the US?
