I’m moving to Rome to study at an Italian university. I need information about finding housing, getting visas and what steps I need to take before I leave to ensure that I am well prepared when I get there. Let me know of anything (especially books) that you might have found useful.

You don't quote if you're European or not (and this makes a big difference).- As to visas,papers,etc. pls apply the closest Italian Consulate or Embassy to be 100% safe. You cannot relay on any answer coming from any source on the Internet.

As to the housing I know that Universities have special conventions for their students and the my suggestion is to address yr request to your school. You'll get the best accomodation at the cheapest price...!!
