1. Best time to travel (I prefer chilly to hot weather)
2. If I only stayed a week what four sites should I concentrate on ( prefer country to city, art to bars, riding than hiking)
3. Any personal escorts rather than tour groups I could contact.

We are a family of 4 looking for reasonably priced accommodation (guesthouse, farmhouse) in Cork, Ireland.
We hope to go in August for about 5 days.

Where are good places to visit?
Any info greatly received about the area or accommodation.

i wonder if anyone can help. i live with my son and my mother in England, all British citizens, but we're considering a move to Ireland. However, my mother is disabled and would be unable to work, and I was just wondering about whether or not she would be entitled to any state support, ie benefits? i doubt it, but if anyone could help id appreciate it. Thanks

Going to Ireland for the first time in late August - early September for 10 days and 10 nights. I've heard driving is the way to go. Problem is, however, I don't know how to drive a stick and sticks are $600+ cheaper to rent than autos. However, I've got nothing to do throughout the month of August, so I could learn how to drive a stick during that time. Thus, this is basically a two-part question:

1) Is it reasonable to expect to spend only a couple weeks or so learning to drive a stick sufficiently to NOT make a total *** out of myself in Ireland, or cause a serious accident?

2) If getting a stick would be stupid, should I pay the $800 it would cost for the duration of the trip to get an automatic rental car rather than doing the bus/train thing?

Seems like there are some great parts of Ireland where a car is absolutely preferable... I keep waffling on what to do, and could use some advice.

My family (3 adults+ 2 kids) will be in Ireland (7/24-8/8), but can't find mid-range accomodation in the southwest. Would like to stay for one week at a farmhouse or near beach access, or anything charming near Dingle, Killkenny, Kinsale, or Cork.

I was thinking of taking my mum, sis & her 2 babies away 4 few days in the summer for a well earned break, & as they are very wee was thinking somewhere within driving distance of Co. Down, i.e. the west such as Donegal. I don't want to have to spend a fortune, so staying in a mobile home somewhere would be ideal, and we'd also have our own space as kids r a handful & hotel really wouldn't suit. Renting a house is also really dear!! Any ideas where 2 stay?

I will be visiting Ireland for 10 days in August and am looking for great B & B's throughout the country. I will be flying into Dublin, renting a car, and then touring the country via the coastal route and need B & B's all over.
