i am very interested in tracing my family history to find out where the hell my family is from! does anyone from ireland know anything about the "timoney" surname? i would love to find out if i have any living ancestors alive in ireland as it would be great to go and visit. if anyone has any serious info out there, please share.

Good luck.
remember that the Irish did not give their information freely to the brittish for census. This was a form of protest and if they did it would not be accurate. Timoney is a cork surname so i would try there.
You will probably have so search church and school records.
Remember to be carefull as some people were sent to protasalizing schools which ment they went in catholic and came out protestant. these schools existed for a while in ireland so ancestors past 1900`s might be difficult.
If you dont know what area or county to start in then you are going to have a very tough search which might not bear any fruition.

I knew a person whose surname was Timoney once. She was from Derry/Londonderry. I don't think it's a catholic surname so your best bet might be the BT website for northern ireland.

you could try the website called family tree .com they might be able to help you . I think it cost a small fee to use it but at least you might know something from there . good luck . I am Irish as well . good luck .
