I'm meeting my husband at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and I need to meet him somewhere inside the airport. We're each taking different flights and arriving at CDG sometime in the morning an hour apart.

I'm a New Zealander with indefinite leave to remain in the UK. I'd like to live in the south of France initially, and learn the language fluently - spoken and written. Legal-wise, is this achieveable? (especially as I need to work) Ideally I'd like to work for an ex-pat Brit (speak English), but study and live with French-speakers. Also, where would anyone suggest going to study?

I don't want to get arrested, but I had friends that got their pockets picked in Rome, and they said it's also a very frequent crime in Paris.

Ok, my mom said that if I learned French she would take me to Paris or London! It has been my total lifelong dream to go there and I wanted to know if you know any websites that can teach me French and are free. It would also be cool if you told me some words in French that would be helpful. Thanks so much! P.S. If yours is good Ill Bring you back a souveneir! lol

Well, I think i might get shot for asking this, but I think it is quite true. They refuse to speak English to foreigners , laugh at others who attempt to speak French, and their cities are just so not tourist friendly.

What do you expect? Not everyone can speak French, u know. But at least they like your country enough to visit. So for the very least, be nice to them ok....

I'm planning a weekend trip to paris with my boyfriend later on this year, i have read a little in a couple of guidebooks, and websites etc, just wondered where the cheapest places to eat, stay (but still niceish, we dont want rats chewing our toes or anything) and visit? As I am a student the money is a big issue. Any suggestions would be most helpful. thanks.

The last time I was in Paris (two years ago) I loved putting together my own picnics at the different cheese, bread and wine shops. I can't tell you how many times I said to myself "I wish I had my Swiss Army knife!"

I also remember the metal detectors at the Louvre and other attractions, though. Does anyone know if I'd get in touble for carrying a Swiss Army in my bag (about 3" closed)? I certainly don't want to cause a scene every time I go into a public bldg.

This would have been approx 20 years ago. I cant figure out from the SNCF website if this still operates. The service was direct without having to change in Paris.

Do you know there are other beautiful places in France?
Yes, Paris is the most beautiful french city, but some other places are very beautiful : Aix-en-Provence, les Châteaux de la Loire (Castles of Loire), Strasbourg, Lyon, la Camargue, Bordeaux, Nantes, le Mont Saint-Michel, etc.
Come and visit all France! (and these places are cheaper than Paris!).
Bon voyage ^^
