I am in Athens since a few weeks and it is the most boring city regarding fun in the world. People go to cofeshops, order one cofe and stick with it for hours. no music or just strange greek music. any good bars/pubs? center/omonia/monastiraki/psili and around if possible.

I am about to go traveling in Europe with my parents, brother and family. We will be traveling via touring company by a boat on the Danube River. (Hungary, Vienna, and Budapest) I am just trying to think some ways the trip can be more memorable. For example in the past I have kept a journal...has anyone done anything different that really captured the moment? I am just looking for a new idea?

Why is it sometimes called "Holland" but on maps it says "The Netherlands"? Then why do the people there speak "Dutch"? Shouldn't it sound like the country it's from? Even though German is called Deutche in Germany, but I'm still unsure. Any help from the Dutch people out there?

I'm trying to convince my parents to take my brother and I on a family vacation to Amsterdam. Usually when we travel we stay in the states and it becomes rather boring and redundant.

My dad thinks that the only thing to do in places like Europe are to go on guided tours. Are there things in Amsterdam we could do do / see as a family without guided tours?
