Passports should be stamped, but you're less likely to get it done in a bus tour group. If you have the opportunity to ask individually, you can request that the stamp be placed in your passport.

I travel to Germany, thru Zurich, Switzerland for business and the customs agents don't usually stamp my passport at the airport when I land in Zurich. When I get waved thru, I give my passport back and request that the agent stamp it ... they will ... no questions asked!

You'd have to stop at a legal 'checkpoint' of some type and request it-I never get stamped evan at airports when I fly in. Its just a formality it seems and no one really cares
