Here in America is to difference the private schools from the public...
But what is the reason in Japan for the divided idea of what kids should be wearing?
I know the question sounds stupid but is just plain simple curiosity...sorry

Here are my main ideas:

How Japan was like before the Meiji Restoration

What rebellions/conflicts took place during the Meiji Restoration

How Japan Modernized/westernized

+ The after effects of the Meiji Restoration (How Japan is today).

It's supposed to be 5 pages!
Please give me any information you can about this topic. The one I'm really concerned about is 'How Japan was before the Meiji Restoration' because I don't really have that much info.

Please don't give me a copy and paste of Wikipedia. I've already read the article for all it's worth. Thanks.

Im curious if left hand drive cars are allowed to be imported to Japan as of 2007. Are they odd to find in japan (rare)? Are they harder to drive in the Japanese road system? thanks

I have been lucky enough to receive 2 tickets for 7 days in Tokyo.
For those that have been, what would you recommend doing/seeing whilst there?

What times are best to go in terms of weather AND festivals etc?

These are known as "BS" channels (BS-1, BS-2, BS-i, BS Nittele, etc.) but I didn't want to put this in the question line because Yahoo Answers might get the wrong idea!! =p

Anyhow, I know that to receive these channels, you must:
1. Buy a mini-dish and decoder thingy, obviously.
2. Pay a higher NHK licence fee.

But are there any other fees that you have to pay? For instance, monthly subscription fee?

(And no, I am not interested in WOWOW.)

Thanks!!

I'm living in Osaka now, and the only source for finding out about upcoming shows that I know of is the Kansai Time Out and the Kansai Scene. But they often omit shows (like the Converge show last Monday), they don't have a lot of info on local/independent/underground music and they only give info for shows up to about two months in advance. Does anyone know any good sources for finding info on shows coming to Japan?

Which areas/cities/towns should i visit while in Japan? Also, what's the best way to travel around japan? by train or by plane? We're planning to go around March next year for 10 days so that we may catch the Cherry Blossoms blooming. When's the best time to go? Thanks for any advice!!

I just want to know who here is from Japan.I am really interested in japan and yes i will choose a "best answer" for this unless i dont get any answers.I'm not trying to make anyone stand out it's just i want to know,if you are please tell me what it is like to live there a s aperson.I want a person's perspective, like how do you feel about it?are you one of those people who don't think of anywhere else and are a bit naive,or do you iwsh to go somewher else.I'm not trying to get too deep,if you're not from japan or don't live there please don't answer this.
by the way if it's possible people who answer this have to be 11-18 but it's not like a requirement or anything.

I'm going to be picking up my mom at Narita in a couple of days, and I'm not entirely sure how this works. I know I can take a train into the airport (is Narita express the best option?), but I'm not sure what to do from there. I know in America they've gotten much more picky about going into an airport if you don't have a ticket, etc. Do they have the same kind of restrictions in Japan?

I checked out Narita's website, and as far as I can see there are no designated pickup areas. I want to be able to give my mom a specific place to meet me so she doesn't get lost. Would the best option be to have her go downstairs to the train station in the basement and meet me there? Or is there somewhere more obvious, such as at customs or something that I could meet her? What would be great is if I could meet her at her gate. Can you do that here? Thanks.
