This question is lacking a lot of vital information which one needs to give you an accurate answer. Airport of departure is important to know because transfers will affect the cost. Date of departure is the most important because air travel is seasonal. Prices fluctuate according to peak travel times and low travel times.

So, here are some prices I found putting in random airports from KY. These are the lowest price quotes for each city. Also, I used the following dates for departure and arrival: leaving on 4/19/07 returning 4/19/07. A 10 day trip.

Ashland, KY to Fukuoka, Japan (this is the closest international airport to Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi I could find) costs $1564 per person.

Louisville, KY to Fukuoka, Japan $1226 per person.

Lexington, KY to Fukuoka, Japan $1277 per person.

This is the link I found these prices on:
http://www.cheaptickets.com/App/ViewFlightSearchResults?retrieveParams=true&z=fdf3&r=4n&z=fdf5&r=4p&lastPage=interstitial

The www.cheaptickets.com is a great site to find prices. Just input your data and out pops the price.

The cheapest price was on continental airlines for $1226 per person. By the way, these flights all have at least two stops. If you want a direct flight, that is another thing that will raise the price.

Also, if you want to fly from Fukuoka to Shimonoseki that will cost you about $100.00. If you fly from Osaka to Shimonoseki, that will be about $150.00 but minus the price between Osaka to Fukuoka. So it all sort of evens out anyway.

The price will change though depending on when you really will leave, and from what airport, and with which airlines.

Hope that helps.

You will probably fly to Kansai (KIX) airport - I'm guessing $1,000 per ticket, and then trainfare to Yamaguchi ken might cost around $200 each way. That's probably how much it would cost if you don't locate a good deal somewhere.
