Asia Pacific - September 2006

I just joined this morning and already have over 100 responses. Age is not important but I want to stay in the Philippines. Which nationality would be open to this Americans, British, Germans, Australians? I am educated never married Filipina who has no desire to move abroad. I have personal reason for choosing a foreigner. There are a lot of nice men but I need to know who will really wan to stay in the Philippines. I will not leave my family.

I have VA driver's license and I'm about to get my intl one - and travelling to Japan mid-october for 3 week vacation, where I will be renting a car for about 2 days. Is IDL the only license I wil need to drive there, or do I have to pass some sort of japanese road test etc.? I heard so many conflicting rumours about this, totally confused now...
2nd part - Im visiting in and around Kofu - would I really need a car in countryside ...?

Im travelling to Thailand in October, and I understand that Australian citizens are exempt from visa's if they are there for tourism purposes and arent staying longer than 30 days. I fit both of these categories, so I just need to know what paper work I need to have with me. I already know I need a passport & return airline tickets, but do I need anything like additional photos, proof of funds etc. etc. etc.?

Any info would be great.
