Like at Varsity some Afrikaans students would ask questions in Affrikaans and when I opposed some people looked at me funny.

And now this happened again at work in a meeting.
Some people spoke Afrikaans in the meeting and the people speaking Affrikaans were young people that came a year before us, the senoir guys are Affrikaans but the answered them in English even though the young ones persisted on speaking Affrikaans.

Why do some people do that?

I understand if someone can not speak english but now if someone can speak fluent English and does that I feel thats wrong.

Isn't it ironic...While on (a long overdue) holiday in SA, I was away from the SA forum, and now that I'm away from the motherland, I'm back to chat with all you beautiful South Africans.
What did I miss out on? I see there are a few new characters (and one or two old ones with a new avatar...hehehe).
Zim, I travelled through George 2 weeks ago and waved to everyone who I thought may look like you.

It seems that with each and every election that South Africa sees, the ANC government garners more support and greater majorities. This cannot be based on performance and service delivery when one considers their dismal track record and gross misgovernance, we have seen abundant scandals, blatant corruption with no consequences for the offenders, rapes by government officials as well as sexual misconduct, nepotism, poor to a complete lack of service delivery, ANC fat cats enriching themselves only at the expense of the taxpayer, crime levels escalating to that of war torn nations, roads and infrastructure are crumbling and the average South African family is now amongst the most indebted in the world.
Why do our citizens continue to follow these disastrous voting patterns?
Is it allegiances to the lies, propaganda and deceit that they have been fed by an ANC government who are excellent talkers but pathetic implementers or merely the result of uneducated masses voting?

I tried to explain this to my dad, but he couldn't understand the situation. He was a principal for 20 years and never encountered anything like this! This is how it goes: We are 4 foreign teachers at a private school in Korea. We are asked to host an English Camp. We put everything together and at the last minute things get changed by the supervisor. The camp bombs and the kids are not happy. The pictures on the school website shows one teacher looking down, the other one laughing and me sitting down. This however not explained to the viewers. I'm sitting down, because I'm assisting another teacher doing a "restaurant class". The teacher looking down is using the computer to show a scene during a "movie class"! If the kids are happy, the parents are happy and now we look like the idiots that put it all together! The super changed all our plans and the computer teacher took a lot of shitty pics making us look bad! What would you do if you knew that both of them were IN for you as well?
