Why does a zebra have more white than black stripes?

Zebra have neither more black than white nor white than black stripes. Each Zebra is unique in it's looks. Basically, the stripes serve two purposes. The first is for identity. A Zebra's stripes are similar to the human fingerprint. Every Zebra has a different pattern. The second purpose of the stripes, which is a clever one, is to confuse predators. When a herd of Zebra are grazing happily and a lion suddenly comes hurling towards them. The Zebra do not run away in a straight line as you would expect. They actually zig-zig a couple of times first. When the lion looks at the herd, it cannot pick an individual out, to attack, as all the lion sees is a mass of black and white stripes. In random attacks, the stipes save many Zebra lives. However, lions can be clever too. An intelligent lion will not make a random attack as it knows there's a chance it won't get a kill. The intelligent lion lays in wait, watching the herd, until one of the Zebra moves out of the pack. The lion can now see a Zebra clearly and can now attack. As the herd runs, the stray Zebra will become further isolated thus making it an easier target. In many cases, the one that is targetted is usually a foal.
