Hi I've recently begun swimming again..used to be a college swimmer. At about 300 yards and my ears begin to hurt..I'm certain its not Swimmer's ear...can it be because of blood pressure? The pool is outdoors..water isnt that cold just cool. Anyone ever have this problem while swimming or starting ....back to swimming? Any suggestions? I usually have to stop for a bit for the pain to go away.--and off I go again.

Not trying to be high maintenance or perfect, but at age 40+ a little basic foundation coverage, etc., would be helpful.

I just got into scuba diving, and also ran into some serious budget issues this year. Too bad i picked an expensive sport :) But anyway would love to hear about some inexpensive countries to visit, low cost of living but have great diving. Thanks!

I have read somwhere that waterproof watches are not waterproof for ever. I've heard that you should have the gaskets replaced every 18 months for saltwater diving and every 12 months for freshwater diving. Is this true? It doesn't seem very widely known.

The Little Britain star who swam the channel. Do think he deserves all the hype he has been getting or is he a little overrated and used to advertise Sport Relief.

I was always impressed with his effort to train for the extreme challenge, and then to do it aswell was awesome. However, I object to him being favourite to take the BBC's sports personality award for doing so. I compare his effort to a guy climbing a mountain for charity, a sponsored bike ride or possibly running a marathon in a novelty costume. Although he did do a great thing for kids all over the world, in sporting terms,he shouldn't be up there with our tops sportsmen!

Other winners could include Wayne Rooney, Stevie G, Andy Murray and hopefully some more will emerge before December.

Hi,

When I go swimming I find that the swim cap hurts my head. It feels like my head is in a vice. When I remove the cap, the headace goes away. I am just thinking the standard cap is too small for my head (or I have a big head), and I was wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives to this problem. I was thinking of just trying to get a larger swim cap, but not sure who makes them and where to get them.

Thanks in advance.

I swim pretty fast but i've never got the hang of diving in, which is required during compeditions. if i dive in i normally make a splash and my goggles falls off. I bend my knees 45degrees and keep my head down but still doesn't work. Any advice?

I just went to a meet on Friday and I got 35 seconds in freestyle and 41 seconds in backstroke. Is that a good time? I ended up getting 2nd in free and 3rd in back.
