Trust me, once you get into the regular practice season, you'll shed that excess weight pretty fast. Between in-pool workouts and the weight training you'll be burning anywhere from 3000-3500 calories (depending on the yardage you swim and the effort you put into the practice). My best advice to you is simply to avoid high-calorie foods (such as fast foods) and sodas. Drink plenty of water and sports drinks to replace your electrolytes (swimming doesn't make you sweat, but you will lose a LOT of water). Choose foods that are high in protein and fiber, like lean meats and lots of fruits and veggies. Also be sure that you're getting enough calcium in your diet. Try to include milk, cheese, or yogurt at least once a day, if not more (especially milk and yogurt). If you eat right and work hard, you'll have an athletic body that you can be proud of.

No no no. Do NOT cut calories. Eat like you normally do, possibly with some extra protein. If you practice a lot, you'll get lean as is, and the extra flab you got will probably turn into muscle. So, if you get rid of the extra pounds, you might be taking away some of your engine. If you work hard 5 days a week in swim season, you're going to have a sky-high metabolism (you'll burn at least 3000 calories a day).

You will lose weight during the swim season so it is probably not necessary to try to do so now. I would focus instead on your overall fitness and eat enough to keep your energy up. You don't want to get sick when practices starts. If you are still worried I recommend talking to the coach or a nutritionist.

Depends on what team you are going for. Swimming, yes. Wrestling,Football etc gives you a little more to work with. My advice is talk to your doctor and the team coach. Peace.
