I just watched the soccer match between Iran and Portugal. Before the game Figo was advertised as maybe being the best soccer player in the world. He was nothing special today, and he was nothing special at the last world championship either. If the Portugese have a world class player, his name is Ronaldino! I also liked Miguel or Deco. I think Figo is on his way out, but isn't Ronaldino fun to watch?

I know how many can play during the World Cup, but how many actual countries have teams that are able to vie for the spot to make it to play in the world cup?

No, really. Watching the World Cup and I see lots of players talking to lots of other players. Does everyone know Spanish or French or English or Tagolog or Farsi or what?
And what about the refs: Are refs required to know a bunch of languages?

why have stoppage time, why doesnt the game just end when the clock runs out? is stoppage time always 5 minutes?

I am quite frustrated as to how easily some players seem to fall down and embellish the fouls. Why doesn't FIFA try to crack down on the amount of diving?
It seems like some teams fall everytime anyone comes near them within the penalty area.
Does anyone agree? Which teams are the worst offenders?
