My older young fella (James) bought AFL 2005 (the game for Playstation) second hand recently and all I can say about it is it is a piece of crap. The commentary is awful compared to other codes, the graphics are woeful, the tactics are totally unrealistic etc etc.

Has anyone played the later versions (e.g. 2007) and if so are they any better. I'm vaguely thinking of taking his in and trading it in on the later version for Xmas but if it's just as bad, then stuff it, I'll buy him a soccer game.

Any thoughts chair wonders and couch potatoes?

I am American, and we used to be able to watch Australian Football on one of our sports channels, but I can no longer find it. If there is a Carlton team, will someone let me know how they are doing.

What's with all the "B*TCHIN"? I have seen this section go down hill over the last 4 to 6 months. I totally don't have the same opinion about this section anymore. 12 months ago, TRUE AFL followers would post fantastic questions and answers, now it's 'Day's Of Our Lives" forum.

I am absolutely addicted to AFL. In keeping with being a Chicago Bears Fan in the US (Our National Football League), I am a St. Kilda Fan.
I try to get to AUS on business during the AFL season but I can never remember when it starts. Last year, I subscribed to Big Pond to try and get the games but had some real problems watching them, even delayed, in the US.
Three Questions for you, mates:
1. When does AFL Start (Month) and End (Month)
2. Since I can't keep up with the off season... how are things looking and which matches do you think will be great ones during the next season
3. Can ANYONE give me a clue as to a site (not Bigpond plz) where I might be able to see the matches, even if delayed?

Thanks Mates!

Cheers

Like at the racetrack, everyone picks their favourite ,on the home turn the pack forms then the bolter emerges, wins, then all the theories come out as to why it was a chance. I 'm thinking the AFL bolter could be Brisbane . They still have a number of Premiership players and coach, which is lethal, given he already has 4 flags to his name, Bradshaw returns from injury, and they will want to strengthen their hold on QLD territory with the Roos move debate. Then they have traversed Robertson, intersecting him from Melbourne, and who has forgotten their demolition of Collingwood in R 17, the team who missed the grand final by 5 points against the eventual record breaking winner .

A recent report says several Carlton youngster's including Recent no 1 picks, have already been seriously influenced by Chris Judd.
His work ethic, professionalism and basic attitude to the game, has already had a major influence of the Blues young guns. In 1977 Collingwood with a new coach, rose from last to the Grand Final, played a draw then lost the replay . With all the positive influences at Carlton, are they good enough to equl or better the Magpies of '77. ?

can anyone give me a link where i can watch an old television ad? it featured collingwood fc - in the commercial, they were advertising sunsilk. it showed chris tarrant's locker that had a bottle sunsilk, then one of the other players called him a pretty boy and he laughed and shut his locker door which caused all the other lockers to open. all the players had sunsilk shampoo in their lockers. any info would be great :)

And supplementary - who's the ACT player in the draft this year?

You may notice I follow on from other questions a lot. Dubya pointed to distribution. I live in the NSW southern highlands near Canberra and got to thinking that the ACT has produced a few over the years. The obvious one is James Hird. There was a very good one for Footasgray but I can't remember his name. Do you know if there was a better player than Hird?

I know Alex Jesa lived here at various times but he wasn't from here. Kevin Neal coached here but again was he drafted from here?

Of course I played here but I don't quite qualify as a great :-))))

If you count Wagga in the district you've got several Danihers but let's not go there.

(Interestingly some of the most amazing Rugby Union players have come from here - Gregan, Campese, Larkham, blah blah)

Here in America, prospective on draftees in Oz is almost impossible to know.

Just wondering about how Geelong did in the draft. Please educate me.

Harry Taylor, East Fremantle
Dawson Simpson, Murray
Scott Simpson, Dandenong
Dan McKenna, Gippsland
Adam Donahue, Geelong (father-son, Larry)

Can this be true? We are not going to see any rule changes next season....Whats going on? Are the rules committee and The AFL taking drugs? Are they playing games with us?

Too many changes each season, Why on earth, do they need to change the rules so often? Aussie rules is the only sport I know, where the rules change every season. Its riduclous.

Put all of your bias aside and let me know where you think we might finish?
I personally don't think we will make it anywhere near the top 8 and I am a passionate crows girl :(((

For all those who were interested in a tipping comp I have set one up on the AFL site. It is still on this year's but if you register now it carries over to next year. The name of the comp is Yahoo Footy.

US football too uncivilized. If they were real players, they wouldn't have to wear all that equipment.

Please don't tell me that he is a comedian!

If that is his claim to fame then he needs to sack his gag writers & hire some new ones. The other cast members try hard to laugh at his corny one-liners but it is becoming increasingly more difficult for them to put on a good act.

He is an embarrassment. My wife reckons he must have signed a lengthy contract with C9 otherwise he'd be given the flick.

If I'm told, in here, that he IS funny then I, & my immediate circle of friends, ourselves have no sense of humour as we all think he is a drop-kick.

Maybe it's a Victorian sense of humour we lack, eh?

The Carlton F. C.merchandise shop has sold out of no 5 Jumpers since it was announced the new PRINCE of the park will wear the number next season. One lady seller, is reported to have said "his first years contract is just about paid for" . what an amazing bunch of nuf nuts, these CARLRTON people are . They have "BAGGED" the bloke for years in a EAGLES no 3, now they reckon he is a hero, and he hasn't had a kick for them yet !
