I am absolutely addicted to AFL. In keeping with being a Chicago Bears Fan in the US (Our National Football League), I am a St. Kilda Fan.
I try to get to AUS on business during the AFL season but I can never remember when it starts. Last year, I subscribed to Big Pond to try and get the games but had some real problems watching them, even delayed, in the US.
Three Questions for you, mates:
1. When does AFL Start (Month) and End (Month)
2. Since I can't keep up with the off season... how are things looking and which matches do you think will be great ones during the next season
3. Can ANYONE give me a clue as to a site (not Bigpond plz) where I might be able to see the matches, even if delayed?

Thanks Mates!

Cheers

Ya poor buggar, why did you pick St.Kilda, one flag in all those years, i think they hold the wooden spoon record too, most times on the bottom of the ladder that is.

We have trouble with big pond too, it's a pain, here is a radio station you can keep up to date with, not sure of your time diff, which part of the states you are in but you can work that out, i am sure in your arvo you will hear billy and the boys, followed by Kevin Bartlett, at our 9 am.

Its a good station and will more than keep you informed, not too late to change to the mighty tigers mate, only way is up for our blokes, theres no lower we can go.
Here's the link below, let us know if you get on and what you think.

2008 NAB Cup (pre-season comp): Feb 15 - Mar 8
2008 main season: Mar 20 - Sep 27
St Kilda's first game is Mar 22 against Sydney.

If you can't remember anything else, remember that September is always finals month.

St Kilda have a decent start to their season, with 7 of their first 8 games being at Telstra Dome (two of those are technically away games). The end run looks tougher, including games at Subiaco in rounds 17 and 20 (playing West Coast on Jul 26 and Fremantle on Aug 17) and finishing up with a match against Essendon at Telstra Dome on Aug 31 (should be a good one).

Can't help you with the video, sorry.

You got a good answer on the other topics ... so ... which games look good.

Well you could hope for the Saints to be between 3rd and 6th if they come good. They've got some very good recruits including dual premiership Cats ruckman Steven King and Fraser Gehrig is back for one more year as is Robert Harvey.

So looking at games that should be good matches, look at this years table for 3rd to 6th. Hawthorn, Kangaroos, Collingwood, Sydney?? should all be good.

Pick a good venue - Telstra Dome is good viewing as is the MCG. And get under cover seats if you can! Best places to watch from in my opinion are either behind the goals down low (amongst the maniacs - who are usually good fun) or up in the stands a little near the centre line.

You can usually order videos from the club but there are very few options for watching highlights. The web site will have a help desk - google search (www.google.com.au) for "St Kilda Football Club" - they might be able to help more.

I'm sure they stream matches through the AFL site. You just need to go there.
