Keep the actual BCS rankings(make them better too) and then have every conference have a championship game or no championship game at all(isnt fair to conferences that have a championship game that others dont). then seed the top 16 teams and start the playoffs after the conference chmpioships. keep the current bowl games and designate a certain number of them for the teams that are eliminated from the playoff to play their final game in against another team that was eliminated from the playoff. If you do the math right then you could have the semi-finals played during the last or next to last weekend in december, then take two weeks off before the championship game, and take the losers from the semi-finals to an alternating big bowl(rose, fiesta, sugar, orange) and that would be a third-fourth place game that would be played the same weekend of the National championship game.
