Name two good teams he has beaten since he has been there. Honestly, they lose every big game he coaches in. He has a prostyle offense that made it take teams about a season to figure out and shut down. His record is almost identical to Tyrone Willingham's at this point, and no one called him the savior, so why Charlie Weis? Please educate me on this.

Crayboy: okay 1st of all, Tennesee wasnt a .500 tema last year, and you call that a big win for them that season. 2nd blowing out Penn State isnt exactly a huge deal this year. Third look at the teams that beat GT this year other than ND. Role model i can see, but still you cant convince me he is an elite coach because he coached under a great Pats staff. Tressel, Myer, Carroll, and Spurrier at least are in another class than he is. And the michigan win last year????????? Michigan lost 5 friggin games last year. Are you kidding me? lol.

And ND making a BCS game is a giving as long as they win 9-10 games, its a media machine.

he is a great role model for the atheletes at notre dame. he probably tells his players...

"work hard and play hard or you will end up fat and disgusting like me"

After two seasons with Notre Dame their records were:

Charlie Weis 19-5
Tyrone Willingham 15-10, and overall was 21-15

Sure...no major victories against big teams, but he did have an invite to a BCS bowl, something Willingham never had there. The record does sorta speak for itself. Doesn't really look like an 'almost identical' record to me.

That being said...Notre Dame is way overrated. They have played all three service academies this year...not exactly the cream of the crop in opponents.

However, I believe that every new college coach coming to a program in the state Notre Dame was in when both Willingham and Weis took over need at least 5 years to build a program. With the style of offense Weis is running and the prestige of Notre Dame, it shouldn't take long for the recruits to start flocking.

The only reason people think he's any good is because he's at Notre Dame. He's an amazing offensive coach, but he does not know how to coach a full team. Because Notre Dame has won 10 games in each of his first two years people think he is a genious, but they have never, ever beaten anybody worth anything. 0-2 vs USC, 1-1 vs U of M with the one win against a Michigan team that flat out sucked and 1-1 against MSU who we all know is terrible. Weis should go back to being an offensive coordinator in the NFL because he'll never be a great head coach.

im a huge notre dame fan and i totall disagree with that statement. there are very few college coaches that have either 3 rings or 3 national championships. and he has won at least 3 improtant games. he beat michigan at the big house last year and he beat tennessee. and then this year your going to tell me that beating Georgia Tech (who probably will become the ACC champs) at their house is not a good win. we also blew out Penn State even though their not like a top 25 team, but their still good.
Charlie is a good coach because he runs a complex offense, he is a HUGE role model (figuratively and literally), and he's got the rings to prove it.

Weis is thought of as great because the propaganda machine Notre Dame and it's college TV network are puking that belief out sooo much that it looked at as fact as opposed to what is really true which is Weis is a decent coach, who has been out coached in every big game he has been in.

Because he took a crappy team and make it in to a pretty darn good one in ONE season. Heck, he's not even playing with players he recruited. He's done a good job.

His record is much better than Ty Winningham. His teams actually go to bowl games.

Because he says he is. ;) One word that can't be used to describe Charlie Weis is 'humble'.
