Let’s say you’re at an art gallery looking at a beautiful painting. Two guys are standing by you , and you ask them both to explain this painting to you. The first guy is very knowledgeable in art, he’s studied art for almost his entire life. He tells you the age of the painting by looking at what paper was used. By looking at the strokes used, he tells you what type of paint brush was used. Then he goes on to tell you what the colors and shapes used means. What he tells you sounds believable. So then you turn and ask the second guy, who just so happens to be the person who painted the painting. His explanation of the painting is completely different than what the first guy said. He speaks of a different type of paper and paint brush used. His purpose for the colors and shapes used is also different from the first guy. Whose explanation regarding the painting do you believe, the man who observed the painting and used his knowledge of art to give an explanation about it, or the man who painted the painting himself???

I've already had a conversation with him about it, and he's absolutely adament about staying a member. I should've seen the writing on the walls that time I caught him watching "Gilmore Girls". Now he's always muttering things under his breath like "give me power, O great Lucifer". It's gotten to the point where I'm terrified of him.

When I asked about Scientology before, some followers tried to explain it to me. Those who were critical said Scientologists believe we were once visited by an evil being called'Xenu'. How come none of you followers mentioned him? Were you scared you'd look ridiculous? WHY do you believe in him?? I genuinely want to know!

his side of the story before drawing any conclusion of his guilt? Maybe he had a good reason for disobeying god. Maybe he didnt go along with with the lack of democracy? The bible only conatins one viewpoint so is likely to be very biased.

Personally, I think you are all immorral. Some of you require a defense mechamism cause you've been abused with a lie about fear and you think that a certain belief will make you righteous in the eyes of a sky wizard.

Not to me, you are all equally worthless to me.

I'm worthless to. I have wronged everyone I've ever known and loved.

So, can we stop with this monkey business of who is moral atheist or theist, and just do what some of the greatest masters in human history have taught us?

What sickens me most about yahoo answers lately is reading things that imply because people are righteous before their sky wizard because they believe in the dead sky wizard coming back to life, that they are righteous to each other in their cult, but everyone who isn't in the cult is unrighteous.

All of us equally worthless and unrighteous to each other equally deserving love and forgiveness.

I'm very worried. The minister is currently in the hospital. this all happened right before my son was about to be baptized. normally infants this young have very little control over their facial expressions, but this infant definitely gave that minister a look.

I am female, born in 1971, african american, work, but lived poor when I grew up with both parents we worshipped GOD til I was 12 they divorced, I went to Cleveland Sch. of Arts took all performing arts classes and loved Choir Ballet (but not the tight clothes) lol grew up, have a baby daddy of three children and a ex-husband of one year, he thought he was gonna kick my *** when he felt like it. dud! I like the early Hip Hop music and country and world as well as Reggae(ton) but I don't like Vulger music even though some I can relate to ( cause I seen it in the hood ) Very private yet my life is an open book. I like to say I have been through life like that next FEMALE and still have room to grow. I think most women want a safe happy family a God fearing man for a husband to make her feel complete. Someone who can teach me something good and still appreciate me I like to go out bu that cost and I'd rather shoot pool at home, feel me? I have a strong belief in GOD and with that guess!

An earlier question I posed an aswer cited that Jesus is/was male, therefore God is male. But the concept of holy Trinity indicates God is "Father", Jesus ("Son") and Holy Spirit. Two of those entities are without gender, so why attribute God solely as male? Is it because Jesus referred to God as "Father?"

Can atheists be moral if morality can't be derived via formal proofs?

Catholics usually give me this verse in proof that the apostle Peter is the "rock" (head) of the church and all succeeding popes:

Matthew 16:18 states, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

But others say that Jesus Christ is the Rock and can be the ONLY Rock (foundation) upon which the church is builded. He (Christ) is the foundation that no man could lay. 1 Corinthians 10:4 states:

"And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ."

(The capital "R" of Rock is in the KJV Bible text-I didn't add it).

The "spiritual drink" mentioned in this verse is the Gospel and the Bible tells us that Christ is the Rock. Then I went to Deuternonomy 32. Here there is a distinction between "rock" and "Rock." The lower case rock is in reference to false gods while Rock refers to Jehovah God!
