1. I understand that I can't get to Heaven by good works because, in comparison to God's infinite goodness, I'll always be a sinner. Only Jesus was perfect. Further, he made the ultimate sacrifice. Fine, so Jesus gets to go to Heaven. But what does Jesus's perfection and sacrifice have to do with me? If I'm not good enough to get into Heaven, what difference does it make that Jesus was perfect? How does that make me any more worthy to get into Heaven? I just don't see the connection. (Tiger Woods is a great golfer, but, even if I worship him for it, the fact of his greatness doesn't improve my game any.)

2. How is Christianity a monotheistic religion? I'm honestly confused about this. God is divine, and Jesus is divine. That's two things I'm supposed to worship, isn't it?

"...In God we trust..." "...One nation under god..." "B.C. (Before Christ)..." "A.D. (Anno Domini; The Year of our Lord)..."

**** you, Fascist Christians. I am not Christian, and I will never be Christian, no matter how much you try to make the U.S. an all-Christian country. Jesus can lick my clitoris for all I care. This country was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION, not CHRISTIANITY. Get your history straight, and then go **** yourselves.

If the bible is the literal word of god, why wouldn't he make it read better?
I mean I'm pretty sure we can agree that there are plenty of books out there that are better written. And I very much doubt that any sensible literary critic would rate the quality of writting in the bible, as the greatest ever.
William Shakespeare's a better writter, as are T.S Elliot, Edgar Allen Poe, Leo Tolstoy, and Fyodor Dostoevsky to name a few. Why would god write a book that by any literary deffinition is second rate?

If non-Morman Christians are somewhat offended by the Mormon belief in a more recent Jesus chapter on earth (in N. America), why shouldn't Jews be somewhat offended by the Christian belief that the messiah has already come? Both involve an additional chapter of holy claims and text. Thanks. =)

This is not meant to be offensive, just an honest question, mainly for atheists or theists that have an objective answer.

I'm an atheist and don't necesarily agree that not believing is a belief, but don't really care if theists think it is, because it doesn't make anyone's story more plausible. I don't believe that the fantasy novel I just finish was true whatsoever, I guess you could call it a belief but does that make any difference? It is still a story.

So fine, I don't believe in anyone's god or gods, as far as I can see they were all built on holes in human knowledge and fear. You can find a point in time when almost any god or religion materialized, and you can find points in time where peices of his/her religion were disproved, but that religion still exists. So as far as I can see, as we learn more religion becomes less useful, effectively showing that at its roots it is just there to explain the unknown. So why does my nonbelief being a belief make it less credible?

It seems the radicals wan't to kill anyone who hurts the cause of Islam,, Osama has done more to make the rest of the world HATE Islam than anyone on the planet.
Before him most people were fine with the muslim religion, now it is synonomus with 911, car bombings, and terror, why don't they direct their hate to the one who has caused the rest of the world to hate and fear Islam,,
Osama Bin Laden?

Relating to my previous post, since the only reason atheist come to this group is because of people who believe, then if the group was closed they would have nothing to do.

Also the word atheist, that is non-theist, can not exist without the word theist, which is believer in God. Atheists are just the extra letter 'a', or 'non' which means nothing on its own :)

So God can exist without atheists, but can atheists exist without God?

Leads me to believe that existence of atheists depends on God and it is His divine play to let them exist to make it more interesting for all and to give us the opportunity to requestion our faith and understand it better. Thank you atheists for helping us :)

How conceded of any one religion, wether it Christian, moslim, jehovah, jewish, etc, etc, to think that they are the chosen one and that only by believing their way can one make it to the kingdom of heaven. How self-righteous. By doing so, aren't they condemning all of those that don't believe the way they do. And don't they ever stop to think that if each one of them believes so much that theirs is the only way, how can they all be right

I mean seriously what good really comes out of it...? As far as I'm concerned religion is the main reason as to why people are unable to coexist...and how does that benefit us? I mean don't you believe that if there were no such thing as religion our world (minus the greedy) would be a much better place?
