Not all atheists are these mean people that get on the Religion/Spirituality board to pick fights, and neither are the Christians.

A lot of people are intrigued by different sides of beliefs. I can sit down with my Republican/Democratic friends and see how and why they believe certain ways, even if I don't share the same beliefs.

There are a lot of people on here that are just curious as to how other people believe--they're not trying to start or provoke a fight, they are just hoping to have meaningful dialogue with other intelligent, insightful people.

They return every day in the hopes someone has found a believable theory behind God.

In truth, they wheep when they close the browser every time they hear religious people repeat the same religious crap over and over.

"It's in the bible so it's true"
"God exist because we exist"
"Look around you, so much life can't appear out of nothing."
and the best one yet:
"Look at how the banana curves TOWARDS me, it has to be made for humans, therefor there has to be a god" (I kid you not, it was on some religious show)

So in fact, Atheist are VERY active with religion. And not just one, but alot different ones.
Buddism, Wikka, Old Pagan believes, Zen, Hindu, Hara Krisna, Christianity.

It's just that they didn't blindly accept the bs their parents/teachers/whatever force fed them during childhood, and actually thought about all the info they read.

So when a question arises like: "No way can evolution make all these animals". Atheists kindly repeat scientific reports about how exacly evolution works.
Ofcource this contradicts the bible, but religion does not revolve around proof. So the religion point of view states "It just is. believe it." and that's the end. You can say it in different words or repeat it over and over, but fact is, when religion has run out of reasons why something works a certain way, science just keeps giving proof, experiments and results and clearcut calculations that predict a certain model of why something works through evolution.

And then there are questions like this one: "If atheist dont believe in Religion or spiritualness why would they be on here?"
Since the question doesn't revolve around religion, but around atheists, it's pretty clear why atheists come here.

Atheists know that religion and spirituality exist and many are interested in learning about what others believe. There's no crime in being involved and educating yourself. I'm also sure that you will find most mature atheists (as opposed to some teenage ones i've met) are not out to convert anyone.

The Atheists probably are curious to find out what kind of imaginary thinking the religious people have to say to each other.

They don't really have to be in here at all but I am sure they get amused by it and wonder why all these Gods, Angels, Ghosts are happening only in Christians' heads.

First and foremost, Yahoo! Answers is not only for those who participate in organized religion. There are all sorts of categories. Second, it is a little rude to assume that we are going to come in here and tell you all your religion is wrong. I personally don't care what religion anyone is, as long as they are happy with themselves. Finally, everyone has every right to answer whatever questions they want, so don't restrict someone based on the fact that they don't believe the same things you do.

Hello!! :o) I think that's a reasonable question to ask. But I'm not sure what the answer is. I do believe - however - that most Atheists are really agnostics who are just too afraid to acknowledge that fact. Besides - how is a man who 'KNOWS' there is 'nothing' any different from a man who 'KNOWS' that there is 'something'. [as far as a 'higher power' is concerned] Neither side can prove what they say they 'know'. It's all about what one 'believes' to be true. Even though I am a Christian - I don't dismiss anything anyone says. [and that includes what an 'Atheist' says] But from what I've seen so far in my life - I don't get the feeling that 'Atheists' are quite that open minded. Craig!! :o)

In a dictionary I checked, atheism is godlessness in belief or as a guide to conduct. A couple of well known guys, Dr. Stephen Hawking, physicist and someone by the name of Einstein, were unable to comprehend the lack of randomness in everything out there. We live in an expanding three dimensional universe. Expanding out of what? Expanding into 'where'? Dr. Hawking has said that his basis for understanding the universe is incomplete without trying to understand an intelligent source, 'a guide to conduct'. Would godlessness explain any of it?

Call it 'morbid curiosity'... like people slowing down on the interstate to catch a glimpse of a traffic accident... except here, we are ogling 'brain wrecks'... trying to figure out how people can be gullible enough to embrace willful ignorance and the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a bunch of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders in the place of genuine knowledge. It is curiously intriguing.

Why don't I ask you the same question--why do you insist in getting athiest to write to you when you don't believe in no gods? Also this appears in yahoo answers general area so people are not purposely going to the religious section.

I suppose I'm not allowed to discuss gay marriage unless I'm gay right? Religion effects me in a negative way, every day I live. I'm not going to sit quietly and take it, no matter how much you'd like that.
