I mean seriously what good really comes out of it...? As far as I'm concerned religion is the main reason as to why people are unable to coexist...and how does that benefit us? I mean don't you believe that if there were no such thing as religion our world (minus the greedy) would be a much better place?

I agree you 100% Religion has caused me (and many others) nothing but problems for years...seriously. Its illogical and improvable. It condones murder, slavery, rape, violence, ignorance, etc, etc. Many popular denominations in the US (you know who you are), are quick to judge other religions because of their violence, yet fail to see the horrendous past in their own "holy books." Read through the OT, and you will find countless atrocities. You are absolutely correct...the world would be a much better place without religion.

No, I do not belive that at all. I belive organized religion is a way of controlling the masses. A way of instilling a certain moral code, or set of laws to a general public. I think people use religion as a reason to hate other people. Just like a football player might think a band memer was a geek, while the band member felt the footballer was a dumb jock.

Relgions of themselves have a good idea at heart. Its what humans do with it, that is evil as all get out.

Yes, glad you said so, cause I just recently started to think that religion seems to be at the root of all evil. Sure, it can be used for good too, but it seems that everything can olnly stay well if you believe the way I believe, otherwise there is war to pay. How selfrighteous to think one religion is better than another, and in doing so you condemn all others, which is certainly not our place to do

I don't think it started out that way, but I certainly agree w/you that it's a problem today.

Religions magnify differences among people, when what we need to realize is we are all basically the same: humans who inhabit this world and need to try better to get along. Sounds naive and simple, but I believe it's true.

Some people derive comfort/security/peace/hope, whatever from their religions and that's fine, but look at the Middle East situation and the Iraq one, too...enough said.

It's a reflection of our evolutionary training as small groups of humans.

It is, in short, "teamism". Humans originally moved around in small bands of people. "Us versus Them" was essential to survial, and it is still reflected in society today.

Sports and politics are two examples of where this comes out. Religion is the worst, however, because the stakes are higher (eternal damnation or dissing one's gods, for example).

It is extremely destructive, but people innately like to latch onto a "team" and deride those who don't. It makes us feel better to be part of a clique. The only way to battle it is through enlightenment, education and the excercise of reason.

It's actually big buisness. The amount of money that these shysters and charlatans pull out of the wallets of the brainless sheep each year is staggering.
And they keep saying it's for good works but when one realizes that one years worth of donations would feed 50% of the 3d world for that amount of time, you begin to understand that someone somewhere is lining thier pockets nicely with the money fleeced from the gullible sheep out there.

i might say particular, even though it relies upon on the style you define prepared faith. some human beings think of that any prepared congregation is prepared faith, than at that factor i might say you're in for slightly a conflict. I entire-heartedly consider you that the commonplace innovations of prepared faith have become corrupt (Ted Haggert, Jim Baker), yet that doesn't make the congregation corrupt, in basic terms lost. If people who're conscious walk away, they condemn their brothers and sisters to loss of life. Jesus on no account meant the Church to be an easily political equipment or business enterprise like we see with the Evangelical remarkable or the Catholic Church. The physique of Christ replaced into meant to be a community of brothers and sisters helping one yet another, praying for one greater and worshiping at the same time. Secluding your self does you no sturdy. Like Jesus stated: "devil is a prey lion, waiting to pounce on those no longer conscious." in case you seclude your self from the physique, what secure practices do you have? i decide directly to get engaged in a Non-denominational church. I additionally am speedy to grant out my objections (which could continually be subsidized via scripture) while i think of a incorrect direction is being taken.

Religious people, and in fact most people, are mostly good, most the time. I just think that there is too much emphasis on the differences in religion and not enough focus on the similarities. For example most of them preach love. I guess its important to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.
